Well I know its been about a week since I have added anything here but I really do have a million things to do and there are many days when 24hrs do not seem enough. I do already spend a good deal of time on the computer each day visiting at least a handful of dog related sites, keeping up to date with dog law, the rescue situation, if I can be of help to do a home-check for a rescue, offering advice on training and health where I do have the answers ( I dont know it all ), learning more about dogs...you get the picture I'm sure.
Aswell as that there are presently three other people ( usually only two), two cats, five dogs and the house to look after. Then there is the voluntary work I do for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People - one day a week there as a volunteer trainer plus ad-hoc days/half days/whole weekends for talks, demos, collections, puppy classes, walking, admin assistance - oh yeah, one of the five dogs is theirs, I am a full time puppy socialiser.
On a Monday I travel a round trip of 50-ish miles on public transport and foot to teach at a dog club in the area I moved from last year. I tend to go in a bit earlier than I have to so I can visit friends round that way. I am often not even home til after midnight.
As a one to one trainer I also travel to all clients on public transport so sometimes I can be 4 or 5 hours on a 2 hr job, I dont do this every day!
Having just read this back it sounds a bit like a moan, IT ISNT, I love what I do for my work, I am passionate about the work Hearing Dogs for Deaf People do and it is a double whammy in my eyes as it benefits both dogs and people. I love my family, am greatful for the home I have and happy with my hounds. I am lucky to have in my life two very good friends, some good friends and friends.
Anyhow, one of the afore mentioned Very Good Friends ( VGFL from now on, the other afore mentioned Very Good Friend will be VGFJ ) is who introduced me to Vox. We get together on a Thursday night, usually at mine, drink wine, listen to music, chat, do cryptic crosswords and laugh and nag each other. I was nagged by VGFL about only having posted a few entries and then abandoning my blog. I havent looked at hers in this long either.
Was gonna write some more but an unexpected, welcome visitor has just arrived so I have to go.........
Ooh yeah, will catch you all up on the £10 sofa saga and about the lady who didnt come as soon as I can get back.
Well the lady who was coming to see my latest foster boy couldnt come.......life happened to her.
Originally she was gonna come in her car (she lives in south London and I am in Bucks) but her son had a crash in his vehicle and he needs transport as he is a busy plumber ( tut, tut, sucking of teeth - that is my plumber impersonation BTW ) who has alot of tools and is very booked up, so he has her car. So the lady said she would come on public transport - shows she is keen for the dog - and get a dog sitter for her own dog. Well I had a call today from her to say that she would not be coming, she was very sorry but her dog sitters dog died last night and now they didnt feel much like sitting someone elses dog..........you couldnt make it up.
Such is life
This is the foster boy.....
with my Dane, Byron
and with Trevor my collie/whippety/terrier type dog
Not many miles from us there is an auction held every two weeks which the OH and I like to get along to when we can...we were there yesterday and purchased a few items one of which is a sofa, quite a nice sofa - it cost me £10. We do already have two sofas but because I have dogs and one of them is a Great Dane and many puppies pass through this house, one of the sofas is feeling a bit sorry for itself and has less foam in the cushions than it should. This 'sorry for itself' sofa is going to become the dog sofa and the £10 sofa will be for humans only.
The £10 sofa was too big to go in the OH estate car ( especially as there were other purchases also) so we arranged for it to be delivered. I was expecting it at about 7.30pm.....it didnt arrive.........8.00pm still no sofa.........eventually I ring them, classic situation the van had to be jump started and is on its way......8.40 pm they ring me.....the van has conked out again and will need a proper recovery vehicle to take it away so the sofa didnt come last night even though it made it to within half a mile of my home.
Ok no big deal really BUT I had completely messed up the lounge to make way for the £10 sofa as I got it in my head that the whole room could do with a re-arrange and spring-clean at the same time. I have alot of clutter and ornaments( which have to be removed from the cabinets to move them about). So now I know not when the £10 sofa will be arriving and my lounge is in turmoil until it does as things may have to be jiggled around to my liking once it does arrive. I can live in this chaos for a few days but today I have a lady coming to see my present foster dog, she sounds rather posh and I'm not so sure that bringing her into my world war three practise zone is gonna be the best thing.
Hey Ho life is fun
Well a very good friend of mine introduced me to all this.......I think that my dear OH will be sighing some more about the amount of time I spend on the computer. The thing is I am a little computer dim so it can take me a while to work things out.
I have alot of discovering to do on here so it could be months before I work out what it is all about. Having spent a while uploading photos and cruising the site I have no time now to do any more but....I WILL BE BACK
see ya
