On Sunday I was lucky enough to get a lift to a fundraiser day held at Mutts In Distress Rescue in Bishops Stortford. The profits went to MID and BIGGSD. Everything for sale was donated so all takings will be profit. They had a similar day in May and raised at least £2,000 to the best of my memory. I couldnt take any of my own dogs as there wasnt room in the van This is a dog I fostered earlier this year, his name is Axel and he is stunning and a big baby.Thats his new Dad with him. ![]() Axel was a bit full on for Byron though so was only here about 10 days I think. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The two greyhounds in this pic have 3 legs each ~ guess who won the best six legs class!! | |

On Sunday Hearing Dogs had an event here in High Wycombe at Hughenden Manor, a National Trust Property. It was a walk/sponsored walk, demos and fun dog show. Byron and the amazing Mr Trevor were entered in a few classes and did quite well in a good few and Byron won best rescue with his story, charm, looks and goober. Byron was mostly handled by My Eldest who was home for her 19th birthday (as I was helping out for the day of course) and Mr Trevor was being handled by L who is a mate of ME's. Having got a 1st in a novelty class meant he was in the ring at the end of the day and he got RBIS Novelty. He won a soft bed and a couple of 3kg bags of JWB and treats.
Heres the pics of course . . . .
All in all a great day out organised by Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. I was walk leader for the almost 6 mile walk, don't think I will be asked again though as I walk so fast I left most of the walkers behind with another walk leader who had shorter legs than me! The group I was with managed to do the walk in 1 hour 25 mins. I assisted with setting things up in the morning before the walk and with the dog show registrations in the afternoon. The weather was kind to us with just a few light showers.
I am posting this as I am a supporter of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People in many ways and some of you might like to come along.
